CONFERENCE CHIP UPGRADE
1.You do not have to backup memory for conference chip upgrades. Power down KSU and open case exposing the CPU board. Locate the conference chip and replace with new EPROM. Make sure notch on EPROM matches with notch painted on PCB "Printed Circuit Board".
WARNING: IF NOTCH ORIENTATION IS NOT CORRECT SEVERE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. On later model 816's you will have to remove the EXT/CO board for access to the IC19 Conference chip. See diagram below.
2. Triple check EPROM orientation!!! Some inexperienced technicians say there is no outline of an EPROM under the chip socket. They are wrong. ALL boards have it. As a rule of thumb, the notch should face the power supply. If you incorrectly install this chip and power up, you will destroy the entire system including the chip. Make sure to triple check!
3. Reassemble KSU, power up unit. NOTE: You will notice the intercom dial tone is different. Most customers are happy with this tone. However, you can switch from normal to distinctive in the 990 field of system programming. Refer to Panasonic programmer help tool/manual for 990 field location.

IMPORTANT CHANGE
*Distinctive = Panasonic's default tone.
*Normal = Our modified intercom tone "Default"

PANASONIC KX-TA 624 EPROM INSTALLATION/UPGRADE
1. Insure existing system is functioning properly and is compatible with the software upgrade planned. If unsure DO NOT ATTEMPT!
2. If available, use the latest programming software, backup current system memory. Older 624's such as -0, and some -1 units cannot communicate with PC until they are upgraded.
3. Power down KSU. Unplug unit from electrical service. Remove old EPROM carefully using an appropriate EPROM removal tool or equivalent. Insert new EPROM making note of notch orientation, and IC# position. If the chip orientation is not maintained, the entire unit and EPROM will be destroyed upon power up! Check and then check again that the notch on the new Eprom is pointed in the same direction as the factory EPROM!
IMPORTANT: 624 systems upgrading to –4 release must locate and change the EPROM size switch located near the EPROM on the printed circuit board. Move the switch from 2meg to 4 meg. Failure to do this will cause the one time executable file to be run without modifying KSU. Some -2 and -3 versions have the switch removed with a dab of solder selecting 4 meg. These units need no modification. "If you do not see a switch your okay"
4. This procedure must be performed exactly as stated. Power up KSU. Move the memory switch on the KSU to clear. Press reset button. While the power light is blinking return the memory switch to normal. This will reinitialize the KSU. Without performing this step the system will not function correctly. This step must be performed quickly. If the date on EXT 101 is "Jan 01 12:00" your okay. If not, repeat step 4 faster
5. Perform the following operation with a proprietary telephone connected to JACK 01.

a) Set the MEMORY switch on the telephone to “PROGRAM” or press program on newer phones.
b) Dial * #
c) Enter the system password, 1234.
d) Enter 999
e) Press NEXT (SP-PHONE button)
f) Keep pressing SELECT (AUTO ANSWER/MUTE button) until “All Para” is displayed
g) Press STORE (AUTO DIAL/STORE button)
h) Press END (HOLD button)
i) Set the MEMORY switch to “SET” or press program on newer phones to exit programming

5. Restore programming software file saved in step 2 or start from scratch. Make any modifications if any. Programming codes are available on our website www.clearpbx.com
